A woman accused of firing several gunshots toward the Los Angeles home of global music star Rihanna has made her first court appearance, facing serious felony charges related to the alarming incident. Authorities say the suspect allegedly opened fire outside the property while Rihanna and several family members were present inside the residence, although no injuries were reported.
The case has drawn significant attention as investigators continue to examine the motive behind the shooting and the suspect’s connection to the singer.
Suspect Faces Attempted Murder and Multiple Firearm Charges
Prosecutors identified the suspect as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman who is now facing numerous felony charges, including attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Authorities say she allegedly fired multiple rounds toward the Beverly Hills-area home on March 8.
Officials confirmed that the attack resulted in property damage but did not cause injuries to anyone inside the home. Investigators also recovered a firearm believed to have been used during the shooting. If convicted on the charges, Ortiz could face a lengthy prison sentence, potentially including life behind bars.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and taken into custody following a police response to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.
Rihanna and Family Were Inside During the Incident
According to prosecutors, Rihanna was at the residence when the shots were fired. Her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, their children, and other family members were also reportedly present at the time.
Despite the frightening situation, authorities confirmed that everyone inside the home remained safe. Bullet damage was reportedly found on parts of the property, including exterior areas near the gate and driveway.
Police quickly responded after emergency calls were made, and officers later located and detained the suspect within a short distance of the scene.
Investigation Continues as Court Proceedings Move Forward
During the initial court proceedings, the suspect was ordered to remain in custody with a high bail amount and to stay away from the victims and their property. Her next court appearance is scheduled later in March as the case moves through the legal process.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the shooting, and investigators are continuing to review evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident.
