Shocking Midday Shooting Near Disney Vacation Hub
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A routine holiday in Central Florida turned tragic when three out-of-state tourists were shot and killed outside their vacation rental home Saturday afternoon in what officials describe as a random act of violence. Deputies say the victims, all men in their late 60s and early 70s, were pronounced dead at the scene after gunfire erupted near a popular tourist area close to Walt Disney World.
Tourists Identified, Suspect Charged with Murder
Osceola County authorities responded around 12:14 p.m. in the Indian Point subdivision of Kissimmee after multiple 911 calls reported gunshots near a rental property. Upon arrival, law enforcement found three men suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in front of the home.
The victims have been identified as:
- Robert Luis Kraft, 70, of Holland, Michigan
- Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, of Columbus, Ohio
- James John Puchan, 69, of Ohio
All three were visiting Central Florida from Ohio and Michigan and had extended their stay due to car trouble at the rental home.
A 29-year-old man living next door was quickly taken into custody and booked on three counts of first-degree murder. Deputies recovered firearms from his residence, though it has not yet been confirmed which weapon was used in the shooting.
Investigation Details and Community Reaction
Sheriff Christopher Blackmon described the incident as “senseless” and with no known connection between the suspect and the victims. Authorities say the man fled back to his home after the shooting and was apprehended nearby.
Neighbors expressed shock at the violence in an otherwise quiet subdivision. Law enforcement has assured residents that there is no ongoing threat following the arrest.
The suspect’s initial court appearance resulted in bond being denied as the county prepares for prosecution.
