A 20-year-old man was taken into custody Monday in Buffalo in connection with the November 16 shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, police confirmed. The arrest marks a major development in a case that left the NFL player critically injured outside a Midtown Manhattan restaurant.
📍 Arrest Made in Buffalo — Suspect in Custody
Law enforcement officials say the suspect, who is from the Bronx, was apprehended near a Buffalo apartment complex by a task force of U.S. Marshals. Authorities have not yet formally charged him, and his exact role in the November gunfire remains under investigation.
Investigators had released surveillance images days ago to help identify the individual, described as a male seen wearing dark clothing and carrying a backpack near the scene outside the restaurant where the shooting occurred.
⚠️ What Happened That Night: From Dispute to Shot Fired
On the early morning of November 16, Boyd — along with teammates — visited a Manhattan restaurant. After walking outside, their group was reportedly taunted over their appearance, which escalated into a physical confrontation with a larger group.
During the chaos, two shots rang out. Boyd was struck in the abdomen; the bullet lodged near his lung. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. His teammates were unharmed. Police said no one in Boyd’s group was armed at the time.
🏥 From Hospital Bed to Facility Visit — Boyd’s Road to Recovery
After undergoing multiple surgeries, Boyd was upgraded from critical to stable condition by late November. He was discharged but later readmitted due to complications. Recently, he made a surprise visit to the Jets’ team facility — a hopeful sign amid his recovery journey.
No motive has been confirmed, and investigators continue piecing together the events that led to the shooting. Charges against the suspect remain pending.
