A promising young voice in Latin music has been silenced. In the early hours of Saturday, 22-year-old singer DELAROSA (real name Maria de la Rosa) was gunned down while sitting in a parked vehicle in the Northridge neighbourhood of Los Angeles. Two male passengers with her were also hit and remain in critical condition as detectives search for suspects and motives behind the brutal ambush.
Victim was on the rise in Latin pop
Maria de la Rosa had adopted the stage name DELAROSA and was beginning to gain traction in the Latin music scene. She released her single “No Me Llames” in August 2025 and had built a growing social-media following. Her sudden death has cast a spotlight on the ever-present risk of violent crime even for rising stars.
The shooting: what we know so far
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on November 22, 2025, on Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue in the Northridge area. Witnesses say two men approached the parked car and opened fire, hitting all three occupants. De la Rosa was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead. The other two victims remain hospitalized in critical condition and their identities have not been publicly released.
Investigation underway, motive still unclear
No arrests have been made and detectives have yet to establish a clear motive. Authorities are investigating whether the attack was gang-related or targeted for other reasons. Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with surveillance footage in the area to come forward.
