Livestream Erupts: Gun, Threats and Police Involvement
R&B singer Ray J — whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr. — was taken into custody after a dramatic livestream inside his Los Angeles home early Thursday morning. The broadcast began with him describing his situation as having “the worst Thanksgiving in the f—ing world,” claiming threats against him and his children.
During the video, Ray J is seen grabbing what appears to be a handgun, loading it, and warning that anyone entering his property would be “blown away.” The scene escalated when his ex-wife Princess Love arrived — reportedly holding their young daughter. She accused Ray J of pointing the gun at them. In response, Ray J denied the accusation and used expletives toward both Love and her relatives.
As the confrontation intensified, officers were called around 4 a.m. The live stream ends with the sound of a crying child in the background, followed by police sirens. Ray J was arrested for “making a criminal threat,” and his bail was later set at $50,000.

Family Drama Amid Divorce, Children’s Safety in Question
Ray J and Princess Love tied the knot in 2016. The two have had a turbulent relationship and she reportedly filed for divorce for the fourth time in February 2024. The couple share two children: daughter Melody (born 2018) and son Epik (born 2020).
During the livestream, Love told Ray J she only wanted to enjoy a peaceful Thanksgiving and accused him of being a “woman abuser.” She later claimed she had called the police after he pulled the gun. Ray J, in turn, allegedly threatened not just Love and her relatives — but also law enforcement, warning he would “shoot the f—ing police.”
The dramatic nature of the livestream — with children in the home during the incident — has renewed concerns about their welfare and raised serious questions about co-parenting and safety.
Legal Fallout and Public Reaction
Following the arrest, Ray J was booked and held in a Los Angeles-area jail. According to authorities, the charge is a criminal threat. Bail was posted at $50,000. Neither Ray J nor Princess Love has issued an official public statement.
The incident has triggered widespread media coverage and public outcry, notably over the presence of children during a firearm-related confrontation. Many have condemned the live broadcast, calling it irresponsible and dangerous.
