On the eve of Thanksgiving, New York City experienced a terrifying burst of gun violence that left seven people wounded in less than four hours. The shootings — occurring across three boroughs — triggered panic and renewed concerns over rising urban gun crime just as families prepared for holiday gatherings.
🔫 Sequence of Shootings Across Boroughs
The shootings began around 7:20 p.m. in downtown Brooklyn, where an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were struck. The man was hit in the left leg and grazed near the elbow, while the woman was wounded in the right leg. Both were rushed to hospital and listed in stable condition.
By 9:40 p.m., the violence spread to the Bronx — two men, aged 22 and 23, were shot in the Fordham Heights area. One was hit in the left foot, the other in the right thigh. They were also admitted to hospital and reported as stable.
Shortly before midnight, the attacks reached Queens: a 24-year-old man was grazed in the head by gunfire from two masked assailants who fled in a black Jeep. He, too, survived and was treated at a local hospital. Within minutes, another shooting erupted inside a deli in the Bronx’s Melrose neighborhood, wounding a 25-year-old woman in the torso and a 22-year-old man in the shoulder. Both remain in stable condition.
🚨 Ongoing Investigation, No Arrests So Far
Despite the sheer scale and rapid succession of the shootings, as of now no arrests have been made. Authorities have not disclosed any motive, leaving many in the city unsettled on a holiday night that had promised warmth and celebration but instead brought fear and confusion.
Law enforcement agencies continue to canvass the crime scenes for evidence, while residents and community leaders are calling for answers — and for stronger measures to curb gun violence before more lives are shattered.
