Shocking Scene Reported by Apartment Neighbors
In Richfield, Minnesota, a 25-year-old man has been charged with murder and serious drug offenses after a disturbing incident early Saturday morning. Multiple apartment residents called 911 saying they witnessed the man dragging what appeared to be a lifeless woman from an apartment and placing her into a car. Officers who responded found blood evidence leading from the unit to the street and ultimately to a hospital emergency entrance where the woman was pronounced dead.
Police Action and Arrest Details
Responding police located the suspect’s vehicle after witnesses reported it ran a red light while fleeing the scene. The driver stopped outside an emergency room, where the 23-year-old female victim was found unresponsive in the back seat and later declared deceased. Investigators allege the suspect told officers the woman shot herself, but preliminary autopsy results showed she suffered a gunshot wound to the back of her shoulder.
Inside the apartment and on the balcony, law enforcement found a 9mm handgun, a magazine, and significant amounts of controlled substances, including marijuana and cocaine. These discoveries have led to additional criminal charges alongside the murder allegation.
Charges, Bail, and Next Court Date
The suspect now faces second-degree murder charges without premeditation as well as first-degree possession of drugs. After his arrest, bail was set at $500,000. Court documents indicate his return to court is scheduled later this week for arraignment.
