Lifetime is moving forward with a new “Ripped From the Headlines” drama, The Idaho Murders (working title), dramatizing the 2022 killings of four University of Idaho students in Moscow, Idaho. Miles Merry (Untamed) has been cast to portray Bryan Kohberger, the Washington State University graduate student charged in the case. Kohberger has pleaded not guilty, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
Background:
The film is being developed by the team behind The Murdaugh Murders: The Movie. It will center on events surrounding November 13, 2022, when Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin were fatally stabbed in an off-campus home. Following a weeks-long investigation, authorities arrested Kohberger on December 30, 2022. Producers say the project aims to focus on the victims’ lives and the community impact while depicting the investigation that led to an arrest.
What to expect:
Production plans to chronicle the timeline from the early-morning attack to the cross-state probe, the suspect’s apprehension, and the community’s response. Casting for supporting roles and a premiere date are expected to be announced later.
