Illinois Man Arrested After Break-in at Livestock Facility; Faces Charges Including Animal Sex Crimes Mark Leihsing 800x450 1

Authorities in Illinois took a 64-year-old man into custody this week following a reported trespass at a livestock building — and new charges now allege the intruder engaged in sexual acts with an animal. The arrest in rural Henry County has prompted further investigation and serious legal repercussions.

Suspected Break-in at Livestock Structure

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday to a report of a suspicious individual inside a livestock building in Geneseo, Illinois. Although officers initially did not locate the subject inside the structure, their subsequent investigation led them to identify and arrest the suspect.

Arrest and Charges Filed

The man, identified as Mark Leihsing, age 64, was booked into the Henry County jail on charges of burglary and sexual acts with an animal. He remains in detention pending a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday. It is currently unclear whether the alleged animal‐sex offense occurred inside the livestock building or at another location.

Legal Implications and Ongoing Investigation

While the burglary charge stems from the unauthorized entry into the agricultural building, the additional charge of sexual acts with an animal – sometimes referred to as bestiality in legal contexts – brings heightened scrutiny. Authorities say the investigation remains active, and further details may unfold as the case progresses in court.
