A tragic incident at a holiday park in England has sparked a criminal investigation after two teenagers were found dead in a cabin, with authorities suspecting carbon monoxide poisoning. Police say several individuals connected to the management and maintenance of the property may face legal action as investigators continue examining the cause of the deadly gas leak.
The victims, a teenage couple who had traveled to the location with family members for a short vacation, were discovered unresponsive inside their cabin earlier this year. Officials believe a malfunctioning heating system may have released the odorless gas that ultimately led to their deaths.
Teen Couple Found Dead in Holiday Cabin
The victims were identified as Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Slater, 17, who were staying at a cabin within Little Eden Holiday Park in Bridlington, England. The couple had traveled there with Cherish’s family and were staying in a nearby cabin separate from the rest of the group.
According to information shared during an inquest, Cherish reportedly complained of a headache on the evening before the tragedy, a symptom often linked to carbon monoxide exposure. Her mother gave her medication before she went to bed, but the following day both teenagers were found dead inside the cabin.
Investigators believe the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide gas, a dangerous and invisible gas produced by faulty heating appliances or boilers.
Faulty Boiler Under Investigation
Authorities have removed a boiler from the cabin for further examination as part of the investigation. Detectives suspect that the appliance may have malfunctioned, allowing carbon monoxide to leak into the living space while the teens were sleeping.
Officials stated that several individuals connected to the operation and maintenance of the holiday park are now under scrutiny. Their roles reportedly involve managing and servicing facilities at the site where the cabin was located.
Four Men Arrested as Investigation Continues
Police have arrested four men on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the deaths. While no formal charges have yet been confirmed, authorities say the suspects were later released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
The case has drawn attention to safety responsibilities at holiday accommodations and the importance of maintaining heating systems to prevent carbon monoxide leaks.
Meanwhile, the families of the two teenagers have shared emotional tributes remembering the young couple and the strong bond they shared.
