Police in New York’s Bronx borough are looking into a troubling incident after the bodies of four adults were discovered inside an apartment following a welfare check. Two men and two women, including an elderly woman, were found with gunshot wounds, and officers suspect the case may involve a murder-suicide.
Neighbours Shocked by Discovery
A welfare check was initiated on Wednesday morning after one of the victims’ sons in North Carolina reported receiving a voicemail from his father asking him to “check on your family.” Inside the apartment on Lacombe Avenue, officers located the bodies of a 44-year-old man, his 75-year-old mother, his 26-year-old daughter, and the daughter’s boyfriend, believed to be in his twenties. Police located a firearm at the scene and determined that all four individuals suffered gunshot wounds, including the suspected shooter who appears to have inflicted a wound on himself.
Cryptic Message and No Established Motive
According to residents, the suspected shooter left another message for a friend on a different floor of the building, saying: “Sorry we couldn’t hang out, see you in the next life.” Crime investigators labelled the deaths “suspicious” and have not yet identified a clear motive. No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
Community in Mourning and Questions Unanswered
Neighbours described the elderly victim as a kind-hearted woman affectionately nicknamed “Golden Girl.” They say the news of her death left them in tears and disbelief. With no official identification released and limited public information available, the community remains deeply unsettled as authorities piece together what led to this tragic event.
