In a troubling stretch for the city, Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) launched two distinct homicide investigations after fatal shootings on Friday and Saturday. The incidents — one following a dispute at a residence, the other occurring during an alleged vehicle break-in — have left the community seeking answers.
Shooting in Lauretta Drive neighbourhood
On Friday evening, officers responded to the 3800 block of Lauretta Drive after reports of gunfire. They found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the torso lying outside a residence. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial evidence suggests the man became involved in an argument with a group that arrived at the home; a firearm was eventually drawn and discharged, and the group fled before officers arrived.
Park parking lot incident on Augusta Lane
The next morning, North Division officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Augusta Lane following a shots-fired report in a parking lot. There they discovered another man with several gunshot wounds to his torso, who was also declared dead at the scene. Detectives believe three to four unidentified individuals — described as wearing surgical masks and gloves — were present, and the victim was found wearing similar gear. Investigators suspect the victim may have been engaged in vehicle-break-in activity at the time of the shooting.
Investigations underway; identities unreleased
FWPD has not yet released the names of the victims or any suspect information. Both cases remain active and under investigation, with officers gathering evidence and interviewing persons of interest.
