Dutch Authorities Arrest 15 Suspects for Spreading ISIS Propaganda on TikTok
THE HAGUE — Dutch police have arrested 15 individuals suspected of distributing terrorist propaganda on the social media platform TikTok. The suspects, whose ages range from 16 to 53, were detained during a nationwide operation targeting online extremism. The arrests were announced on Tuesday by the Dutch Public Prosecution Office (OM), following an investigation that has been ongoing since August 2025.
The investigation was launched after authorities identified a TikTok account disseminating a large volume of content linked to the Islamic State (ISIS). According to prosecutors, the videos were often overlaid with Dutch subtitles and included graphic content glorifying martyrdom and violent armed struggle. Authorities reported that the reach of this network was significant, with some individual posts amassing more than 100,000 views.
The suspects face serious allegations, including incitement to commit terrorist offenses, spreading seditious propaganda, and participation in a terrorist organization. The group of detainees includes four minors, highlighting concerns regarding the radicalization of youth on social media platforms. Regarding the nationalities of those arrested, prosecutors stated that 13 of the suspects are Syrian nationals, while four hold Dutch nationality, indicating that several individuals likely possess dual citizenship.
The Public Prosecution Office emphasized the severity of the alleged crimes in a written statement, noting that “glorifying and disseminating propaganda significantly undermines public safety.” The coordinated raids on Tuesday followed the arrest of another individual last month, who investigators believe was a central figure in the online network.
Dutch authorities have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation continues. The police are currently examining seized digital devices to map the full extent of the network’s reach and to determine if the online incitement led to any concrete plans for physical attacks within the Netherlands or elsewhere in Europe.
