YALOVA, Turkey — A security operation targeting suspected ISIS (DEAŞ) militants in Yalova turned into a prolonged armed clash overnight, lasting several hours and ending in the morning, according to official sources.
The operation began at approximately 2:00 a.m. in the Elmalık village area when police units moved to detain suspected members of the terrorist organization. During the raid, suspects opened fire on security forces, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.

As the clash escalated, Special Operations police units were dispatched to the area. The standoff continued for several hours, with heavy security measures imposed in the surrounding neighborhood. Authorities temporarily closed nearby roads, and electricity and natural gas supplies were cut as a precaution.
Officials confirmed that the operation concluded at around 9:00 a.m., with the area brought under full control by security forces.
According to preliminary reports, three police officers were killed, while several others were injured during the clash. The injured officers were transported to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving treatment. Authorities stated that multiple ISIS militants were neutralized during the operation.
Local schools in the affected area were closed for the day as a safety measure. Residents were advised to remain indoors until security operations were completed.
