Former “Slender Man” Stabbing Accused Arrested in Illinois After Fleeing Wisconsin Group Home maxresdefault 1

A multi-state search concluded when officials arrested 22-year-old Morgan Geyser in Posen, Illinois. Geyser, known for the high-profile 2014 stabbing tied to the “Slender Man” internet myth, had left her supervised group home in Wisconsin and disabled her tracking bracelet before making her way over 160 miles to Illinois.

Fleeing the Group Home and False Identity

Law-enforcement sources report Geyser departed a Wisconsin residential facility where she was under supervision and removed her monitoring bracelet. She was last seen in Madison late Saturday evening with an adult acquaintance before authorities were notified of her disappearance Sunday morning.
Around 9:54 p.m. Sunday night, Posen police discovered her at a Thornton’s truck-stop on S. Western Avenue. She initially gave officers a false name and reportedly told them to “just Google” her identity once she admitted to doing something “really bad.”

Background of the Case

In 2014, at age 12, Geyser and a fellow juvenile lured a friend into a wooded area in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where the victim was stabbed and left bleeding. The attackers claimed their actions were inspired by the fictional “Slender Man.
Geyser pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted intentional homicide and was committed to a mental-health institution after being found not criminally responsible by reason of mental disease or defect. She had been conditionally released into a group-home setting in 2024, with strict supervision.
Upon her arrest, authorities in Wisconsin began proceedings to revoke her conditional release, citing serious concerns about how easily she escaped supervision.

Next Steps and Legal Proceedings

Geyser was taken into custody and transferred to Cook County Jail ahead of an extradition hearing back to Wisconsin, where the state Department of Health Services is expected to seek revocation of her supervised release.
Meanwhile, Posen police charged her travel companion with trespass and obstructing identification, and Wisconsin prosecutors are examining charges linked to the escape and supervision breach.
