“California Police Seek Man Who ‘Looks Like’ Pop Star While Stealing Packages”

“California Police Seek Man Who ‘Looks Like’ Pop Star While Stealing Packages” Suspect who looks like a Backstreet Boy wanted for package theft in Irvine jpg

In Irvine, California, law enforcement officials are appealing to the public’s help after surveillance footage captured a man entering a secured apartment complex’s mailroom behind an Amazon delivery driver and walking away with several parcels. What has drawn extra attention is the suspect’s striking resemblance to a well-known pop-music star. The Irvine Police Department posted the video online and asked for help in identifying the individual—warning that “your packages shouldn’t be going with him.”

Suspect’s Bold Move & Celebrity Look-alike Vibe

The incident occurred when the suspect trailed a delivery driver into a restricted mailroom inside an apartment complex located near Spectrum in Irvine. Surveillance video shows him wearing a maroon T-shirt, black joggers, and a black backwards cap, calmly exiting with packages clearly not addressed to him.
In their post, police acknowledged the resemblance to a member of the popular boy band Backstreet Boys, stating “we’re pretty sure this isn’t [the star] … but the resemblance had us doing a double take.”
Online, however, many social media users voiced skepticism about the resemblance, joking instead that the suspect looked more like another 90s boy-band singer.

Community Frustration Grows as Package Theft Rises

Residents in the complex say package thefts are increasingly common, especially as holiday-season deliveries begin ramping up. The police video has been viewed tens of thousands of times, as investigators hope the celebrity-lookalike angle will increase public attention and lead to a tip.
The department encouraged anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to step forward—highlighting that while the pop-star comparison helped draw attention, the primary goal remains recovering stolen property and deterring future thefts.
