A 39-year-old man was fatally shot inside a Belmont Cragin residence early Thursday morning, leaving the community shaken and police searching for answers. The incident occurred in the 5100 block of West Deming Place in Chicago’s Northwest Side around 4:35 a.m., when officers responded to reports of shots fired.

Emergency crews transported the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not released his identity.

Chicago police confirmed that the victim was struck in the chest inside the residence and succumbed to his injuries soon after arriving at the hospital. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and detectives are actively following leads.
