Authorities have taken a 19-year-old into custody after an alarming incident in Towson, Maryland where he allegedly attempted to abduct three young children. Attempted Kidnapping Shocks Local Community
On December 4, police responding to a “suspicious person” call in a residential area on Edgedale Road said a male suspect approached three children and attempted to convince them to leave with him. Officials say he told the children their parents weren’t home and urged them to come along.
A mother of two of the children — speaking under condition of anonymity — recalled that the man got so close to her son “he could have grabbed him,” though fortunately the children ran indoors banging on the door until their father heard them and scared the suspect away.
Suspect Apprehended — Held Without Bail
The suspect, a 19-year-old identified as Cameron Keelan, was arrested on December 8 and is now being held without bail at the county detention facility.Authorities confirmed charges of attempted kidnapping and are investigating how long the suspect had been observed by the children’s family — neighbors mentioned that the children had previously seen him waiting at a bus stop nearby.
Community Rallies — Parents Warned to Stay Alert
The arrest has rattled the neighborhood, prompting parents to remind each other to stay vigilant and reinforce “stranger danger” talks with their children. Local residents expressed relief that the suspect was apprehended before anyone was harmed and urged neighbors to report any suspicious behavior immediately.
