Elderly Florida Resident Faces Attempted Murder Charge

Palm Bay, FL — A local man, 84, was taken into custody this week after allegedly shooting his adult son in the face during a heated dispute over how often the family came to visit him at home. Law enforcement officials say the argument turned violent on Tuesday evening, leading to a severe injury and criminal charges.

Argument Over Visitation Turns Deadly

According to police reports, deputies were called to a Palm Bay residence after a family member reported a shooting. The victim, the shooter’s son, was found with a gunshot wound to his face and jaw. He was conscious and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The suspect, who lives in the home with his elderly wife and disabled daughter, became upset during a discussion about how frequently his children visited him. Witnesses say the older man accused them of failing to see him over the weekend, which escalated into a confrontation.

Arrest, Charges, and Upcoming Court Date

After the shooting, the suspect reportedly returned to another room in the home and appeared distraught. Paramedics later treated him for high blood pressure before he was medically cleared and taken into custody.

He has been formally charged with attempted murder and is being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail. Court documents show his arraignment is scheduled for early January.
