Two Dead, One Critically Wounded in Late-Night Restaurant Shooting in Aurora, Illinois 1000s

In the early hours of Sunday morning, authorities responded to a shooting at a popular restaurant in Aurora, Illinois, where two people were killed and a third sustained critical injuries. According to law enforcement, all three victims were acquainted and the violent incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic-related confrontation.

Tense Moments at the Restaurant

Around 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, multiple 911 calls alerted the Aurora Police Department (APD) to active gunfire at the dining venue located at 205 N. Broadway. Upon arrival, officers found three individuals suffering gunshot wounds. One man—believed to be the shooter—was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman was transported to a local hospital where she later died. The remaining victim, a man, is being treated and remains in critical condition.

Witnesses described the scene inside the restaurant as chaotic, with diners fleeing in panic once shots rang out. A band performing at the time of the incident expressed shock and sorrow over the event, conveying their condolences to the victims’ families.

Investigation and Possible Domestic Motive

Preliminary information from the Aurora Police suggests that the three individuals knew each other and that the incident is likely rooted in a domestic-violence dispute rather than a random act.

Investigators have not released the names or ages of the victims, citing the need for coroner confirmation and family notifications. The Kane County Coroner’s Office will perform autopsies to confirm identities and cause of death.

Chief Matt Thomas of the Aurora Police Department issued a heartfelt statement:

“Members of our community were senselessly shot while simply trying to enjoy a night out, and our entire city feels the weight of that violence… We are standing with the victims and their families and doing everything we can to make sure you have answers.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the APD Investigations Division at 630-256-5500 or submit anonymous tips via the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers.

What’s Next – Community Impact and Response

The restaurant’s regular patrons and surrounding neighborhood are left reeling from the tragic incident. As the investigation continues, officials are expected to release further details once the identities of the deceased are confirmed. In the meantime, community outreach and additional patrols have been dispatched to reassure local residents and enhance safety in the downtown area.
