ICE Agents Arrest Mexican National in Los Angeles on Charges of Severe Crimes Against Children
LOS ANGELES — Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) have arrested a 30-year-old Mexican national accused of committing egregious sex crimes against minors.
Jose Hilario Millan-Flores was taken into custody on February 2 by Los Angeles ERO agents. Authorities state that Millan-Flores has been charged with severe offenses, including lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and sodomy. Reports regarding the investigation suggest the allegations involve horrific circumstances, including a victim under the age of 10.
This arrest is part of ERO’s ongoing mission to identify, arrest, and remove non-citizens who present a significant threat to public safety. ERO acts as the principal enforcement arm of ICE, focusing specifically on individuals who have violated U.S. immigration laws and are wanted for, or have been convicted of, serious criminal offenses. The agency prioritizes cases involving crimes of violence and sexual exploitation, particularly those involving vulnerable populations such as children.
While the charges against Millan-Flores are grave, the U.S. legal system maintains the presumption of innocence. An arrest indicates that charges have been filed, but guilt must be established in a court of law through due process. Millan-Flores is entitled to legal defense against the criminal charges filed by local prosecutors.
However, in addition to the criminal proceedings, Millan-Flores faces administrative scrutiny regarding his immigration status. Non-citizens charged with or convicted of aggravated felonies or crimes of moral turpitude are generally subject to removal proceedings. If convicted, he would likely serve any mandated prison sentence in the United States before being processed for deportation. Millan-Flores remains in custody pending further legal action.
