FORT WORTH, Texas — A casual disagreement over an order of french fries turned fatal in Fort Worth on Wednesday evening when a man was shot and killed by a friend after refusing to share his food, according to police.


🔫 Deadly Argument at Apartment Complex

Police were called around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 to an apartment complex on the 9500 block of Jeremiah Drive in west Fort Worth following reports of gunfire and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders provided life-saving treatment at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he later died.

Investigators learned that the victim and the suspect, both residents of the complex, were among a group of friends when a verbal dispute began after the victim declined to share his french fries. What started as a minor disagreement quickly escalated, culminating in the suspect pulling out a gun and shooting the victim.


🧑‍✈️ Police Search for Suspect Continues

Authorities have identified the suspected shooter but have not yet made an arrest. Despite searching the surrounding area and the suspect’s unit, officers have not located him and consider him at large. Detectives described the incident as isolated and stated there is no known ongoing threat to the public.

Fort Worth police are urging anyone with information that might help the investigation to contact them directly or submit an anonymous tip through local crime stoppers.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will officially identify the victim and determine the cause of death once next of kin have been notified. Police continue to follow leads and interview witnesses as the community reels from the unexpected escalation of a minor dispute into fatal violence.
