A Global List of Officials Who Resigned Over the Epstein Files how many

As of February 9, 2026, the release of the massive U.S. Justice Department trove of Epstein files (roughly 3 million pages) has led to the resignation or stepping down of at least six high-profile government or quasi-government figures across several countries.

While many others remain under intense scrutiny or have been called upon to cooperate with authorities, the following individuals have officially vacated their positions due to revelations in the files:

Government and Political Resignations

  1. Peter Mandelson (United Kingdom): The former U.K. Ambassador to the U.S. and a peer in the House of Lords. He resigned from the House of Lords and the Labour Party in early February 2026. This followed revelations of financial ties and the alleged sharing of sensitive government information with Epstein.
  2. Morgan McSweeney (United Kingdom): Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Chief of Staff. He resigned on February 8, 2026, taking “full responsibility” for advising the Prime Minister to appoint Peter Mandelson as ambassador despite Mandelson’s ties to Epstein.
  3. Tim Allan (United Kingdom): Downing Street’s Director of Communications. He resigned on February 9, 2026, as part of the leadership fallout following the McSweeney resignation.
  4. Miroslav Lajčák (Slovakia): The National Security Adviser to the Slovakian Prime Minister and a former President of the U.N. General Assembly. He resigned on January 31, 2026, after files showed he had met with Epstein multiple times after Epstein’s initial sex crime conviction.
  5. Mona Juul (Norway): Norway’s Ambassador to Jordan. She resigned on February 8, 2026, after the Norwegian Foreign Ministry cited a “serious failure of judgment” regarding her past contact with Epstein.
  6. Jack Lang (France): A former French Culture Minister. He resigned from his role as head of the Arab World Institute (a government-linked cultural center) on February 7, 2026, following revelations of financial links to Epstein.

NEWS: Epstein files lead to resignation in Slovakia and calls in Britain for former prince to cooperate

LONDON / BRATISLAVA – The political landscape in Europe is reeling this week as the first wave of fallout from the newly unsealed Jeffrey Epstein files hits government offices. From the U.K. to Slovakia, the contents of millions of pages of emails and flight logs are forcing long-standing political figures out of public life.

In Bratislava, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico accepted the immediate resignation of his National Security Adviser, Miroslav Lajčák. While Lajčák has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing, the files revealed a series of meetings and dinner invitations from Epstein occurring as recently as 2018. Lajčák admitted the association was a “mistake” and a “poor judgment” for which he is now “paying the price.”

Meanwhile, in London, the crisis has moved into the heart of 10 Downing Street. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s administration has been rocked by the back-to-back resignations of his Chief of Staff, Morgan McSweeney, and Communications Director, Tim Allan. The departures are tied to the controversial 2024 appointment of Peter Mandelson as Ambassador to Washington. Mandelson, once a titan of the Labour Party, has now resigned his seat in the House of Lords amid allegations that he shared market-sensitive government data with Epstein following the 2008 financial crisis.

Pressure is also mounting on the British Royal Family. Following the disclosure of hundreds of references to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (the former Prince Andrew) in Epstein’s private emails, Prime Minister Starmer has publicly suggested that the former prince should finally “tell American investigators what he knows.”

The Justice Department has indicated that more documents are currently being vetted for release, suggesting that the list of resignations may continue to grow as global authorities analyze the millions of records still being processed.
