Harvey Mayor Christopher Clark has died following a series of health challenges that kept him hospitalized for the last six weeks. City officials confirmed that Clark passed away on Friday morning, January 30, 2026. Clark, a practicing attorney, was first elected as mayor of the south suburban city in 2019 and secured re-election in 2023.
Clark’s tenure was defined by his “Building a Better Harvey” initiative, which aimed to revitalize the city’s infrastructure and reputation. His administration is credited with modernizing the Harvey Police Department, notably purchasing new patrol vehicles for the first time in two decades and mandating body cameras and tasers to encourage less-lethal force.
