Former North Texas Charter School Teacher Arrested on Multiple Child Sexual Abuse Charges
Authorities in Little Elm, Texas, have arrested a former charter school teacher following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving students. Eric Moore, 30, was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Denton County Jail. He faces serious criminal charges, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, and indecency with a child, a second-degree felony.
The investigation was initiated on January 7 after a student at the North Texas Collegiate Academy East Campus reported the alleged abuse. According to school officials, the administration placed Moore on administrative leave immediately following the initial report and prohibited him from accessing school property during the internal and external inquiries. Moore subsequently resigned from his position on January 13.
Little Elm police have indicated that the investigation is active and ongoing, stating that there is more than one alleged victim involved in the case. The North Texas Collegiate Academy, a district that operates campuses in Denton, Lewisville, and Little Elm, released a statement confirming their full cooperation with law enforcement agencies. “Our hearts are with our students, families, and staff as we navigate this difficult situation together,” the district stated, emphasizing that they notified proper agencies as soon as they became aware of the situation.
As of the latest reports, it remains unclear if Moore has retained legal counsel to speak on his behalf regarding these specific allegations. Bond conditions have not been publicly finalized. It is important to note that the charges filed are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty through due process in a court of law. Police are urging anyone with additional information regarding this case to contact the Little Elm Police Department.
