Tragic losses in 2021 and 2025

A young mother from Georgia stands accused of a shocking crime: the fatal suffocation of her two infant sons, born years apart. The first, a 7-month-old boy named Micah, died in 2021. The second, eight-month-old Caleb, died in January 2025. The seemingly unrelated deaths have now been reclassified as suspected homicides following a fresh inquiry.

Authorities say the cases gained new urgency when Caleb was found unresponsive in January 2025. As investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) looked into the infant’s death, previously unclear circumstances around Micah’s death in 2021 came under renewed scrutiny.

Allegations of suffocation, unusual response by mother

According to court records, law enforcement obtained a grand jury arrest warrant alleging that Micah’s airway had been obstructed in September 2021. At the time, the baby was placed in a swing after a bath and later found “slumped over and pale.” Witnesses in the home reportedly observed the mother’s indifferent reaction when Micah’s limp body was removed from the house — a reaction described as “nonchalant.”

In Caleb’s case, the warrant states the mother allegedly deprived him of oxygen, a suffocation that inflicted “excessive physical and mental pain.” Those accusations form the basis for multiple charges — including murder and first-degree cruelty to children.

Arrest and ongoing investigation

On November 20, 2025, the 21-year-old woman — identified as Dakota Nicole Taylor — was arrested. At the time, she was already in custody in connection with the earlier investigation. She is now being held without bond at the county jail.

Investigators say they are still gathering evidence. Officials urge anyone with information to contact GBI’s regional office. The case remains active.
