Texas Man Charged in Deadly Dispute Over Car Sale at Shelby Township Dealer

Texas Man Charged in Deadly Dispute Over Car Sale at Shelby Township Dealer 98b5c4327c24626e0d6923fb9719491f

A violent confrontation over a vehicle sale has left two people dead and a Michigan auto-dealership reeling. Authorities say a dispute between a customer and the owner of a Shelby Township car lot escalated into a fatal attack on the premises.

Disagreement over purchase escalates

Investigators report that the owner of Star Auto Sales in Shelby Township and his employee were fatally shot after a customer from Houston returned to the dealership to confront them. The victim, identified as the dealership’s 40-year-old owner, and a 48-year-old staff member were discovered with gunshot wounds by another employee who arrived on site and alerted police. The suspect, a 46-year-old Houston resident, had recently purchased a Hummer from the business for approximately $3,000 and reportedly left the vehicle at the showroom while a dispute remained unresolved.

Suspect tracked via rental car, arrested in raid

Law enforcement determined the suspect had utilised a rental vehicle booked through an app-based service, initially complicating the investigation. From that lead, they traced the suspect to a hotel in Romulus where they executed a search. During the raid, police say they located a firearm, cash, and a quantity of cocaine allegedly connected to the incident. The suspect was detained in Macomb County Jail ahead of his hearing.

Charges and next steps

The Houston man now faces a raft of charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery, manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, and multiple weapons offences. The defendant is also charged as a habitual offender and will appear in court again later this month. According to the police chief, the killing was premeditated—the suspect had come specifically to eliminate the owner, while the second victim was tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time.
