Investigators allege Ramirez was shot while asleep in her home and later placed inside a container that was dumped near the roadside.

Houston law enforcement responded to a call on Dec. 10 after a passerby noticed a large barrel discarded beside Interstate 45 in the Greenspoint area. Inside, officers found the badly decomposed remains of Ramirez. Officials believe she had been dead for several days before the grim discovery.
Court documents reveal the victim was allegedly shot multiple times while asleep at her residence early in December. The suspected motive and details of the fatal confrontation are still under review by investigators.

Ramirez’s 48-year-old boyfriend, Jesus Varela, has been charged with murder and several other crimes related to the case, including tampering with a corpse and unlawful restraint.
