Historic Pan Am Aircraft Located After Decades Underwater

The wreckage of the legendary Pan Am Clipper Endeavor has been discovered off the coast of Puerto Rico, marking a major breakthrough in aviation history. Marine researchers identified the remains of the flying boat after an extensive underwater exploration, bringing new insight into one of Pan American World Airways’ iconic aircraft.

Experts say the discovery offers a rare opportunity to study an important piece of commercial aviation history while preserving the site for future research.

Discovery Sheds Light on Historic Aircraft

The Clipper Endeavor was one of Pan Am’s famous flying boats that helped pioneer long-distance international air travel during the early years of commercial aviation. The aircraft was involved in an accident near Puerto Rico, and despite previous efforts, its exact resting place remained unknown for decades.

Using advanced underwater survey technology, researchers successfully located the wreckage on the seabed and confirmed its identity through key structural features and historical records.

Researchers Plan Further Investigation

Following the discovery, experts intend to conduct additional documentation and mapping of the wreckage while ensuring the historic site remains protected. The aircraft’s remains could provide valuable information about early aviation engineering, flight operations, and the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officials emphasized that the site holds historical significance and will continue to be studied in cooperation with preservation specialists and maritime authorities.
