Craig Revel Horwood Opens Up About Violent Madrid Attack
Television personality and dance judge Craig Revel Horwood has shared details of a terrifying incident in Spain, revealing that he was stabbed and robbed while on vacation in Madrid.
Speaking on a recent podcast, the 61-year-old recalled that the attack happened while he was returning from a nightclub in the early hours of the morning. According to Horwood, the robbery left him with injuries after an attacker used a razor blade to slash his stomach.
The well-known judge also said his necklace was violently ripped from his neck during the assault, leaving visible burn marks.
Jewelry Stolen as Attack Left Lasting Memories
Horwood described the frightening experience as one of the worst moments of his travels. At the time, he had been performing in Paris before taking a holiday in the Spanish capital.
Following the attack, he returned to France, where his injured and disheveled appearance reportedly led authorities to suspect he was carrying illegal drugs. He said he was subjected to a strip search before being allowed to continue his journey.
The TV star did not reveal when the robbery took place or whether the attackers were ever identified or arrested.
Other Overseas Trips Also Ended in Disaster
The Madrid robbery was not the only difficult travel experience Horwood shared.
He recalled arriving in Mombasa, Kenya, for a long-awaited safari vacation, only to discover that the hotel he had booked and fully paid for had burned down before his arrival. He said he and his group were eventually moved to another hotel.
Horwood also remembered a romantic Nile cruise in Egypt that turned into a health scare after several travelers, including himself, reportedly suffered salmonella food poisoning caused by spoiled chicken. He described seeing passengers collapse while waiting at the airport after the trip.
Despite the series of unfortunate travel experiences, Horwood recounted the stories with humor while reflecting on some of the most unforgettable moments of his life.
