A licensed doctor in Florida was taken into custody this week after local law enforcement accused her of stealing nearly $2,700 worth of merchandise from a Target retail store in Jacksonville. The unusual case highlights concerns about alleged shoplifting by a medical professional and has drawn significant attention from community members and legal observers alike.

🔎 Arrest Details and Charges

On January 23, 2026, authorities in Jacksonville arrested 40-year-old Lindsey Jae Minshew, a physician who has been licensed to practice medicine in Florida since 2012. Police allege she entered the Target on River City Drive and left with merchandise valued at approximately $2,716.61 without paying.

Minshew was booked on a grand theft charge, a felony typically applied when the dollar value of stolen goods falls between $750 and $4,999 under Florida law. After processing, she was released from custody the following day.

🚗 Stolen Vehicle and Other Circumstances

According to the arrest report, Minshew arrived at the store in a black 2024 Porsche 911 roughly 30 minutes before the alleged incident unfolded. During the arrest, officers also determined that the vehicle itself had been reported as stolen, adding another layer of legal complexity to the case.

While police have not disclosed specifics about the items allegedly taken from the store, the involvement of a licensed healthcare provider and a reportedly stolen luxury vehicle has sparked widespread interest in the investigation.

⚖️ What Happens Next

As of now, it is not publicly known whether Minshew has retained an attorney or entered a plea. Court proceedings and further legal developments are expected to unfold in the coming weeks.
