Triple Shooting and Crash on Highway 90 Leaves Three Hospitalized
San Antonio police are investigating a violent episode on U.S. Highway 90 that resulted in three men being hospitalized early Wednesday morning. The incident, which investigators initially described as a suspected road rage encounter, occurred around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 90 and Cupples Road on the city’s West Side.
According to preliminary reports from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the three male victims were traveling westbound on Highway 90 when their vehicle was struck by a dark-colored sedan. Police state that the suspect vehicle repeatedly rammed the victims’ car from behind before occupants of the sedan opened fire, striking all three men inside.
Following the shooting, the victims managed to exit the highway and drove themselves to the nearby Baptist Neighborhood Hospital on Cupples Road to seek emergency aid. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently transported to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) for further treatment. As of Wednesday morning, medical personnel have not publicly released the specific conditions of the patients.
Preliminary Investigation and Uncertainties
While early assessments point to road rage as a primary catalyst, detectives have not ruled out other potential motives. Investigators caution that the sequence of events is based on initial statements and physical evidence from the scene, which remains active. There is currently no detailed description of the suspects, and the dark-colored sedan involved fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. No arrests have been made, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Context of Recent Highway Violence
This shooting adds to a series of violent incidents reported on San Antonio roadways in recent weeks. It follows a separate event earlier this month where three individuals were hospitalized after a drive-by shooting at a gas station on Roosevelt Avenue. Additionally, local authorities have been addressing a rise in aggressive driving reports; SAPD data from late 2025 indicated an uptick in traffic-related altercations escalating into violence. This latest event on Highway 90 underscores continuing concerns regarding safety and conflict resolution on major city thoroughfares.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to identify the suspect vehicle.
