Toddler Found Safe After Police Forced Entry Into Home
A young child was found safe inside a home in Valdosta, Georgia, after police responded to an emergency call involving a suspected murder-suicide early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, officers received a call from a man who claimed someone inside the residence was already dead and said he intended to take his own life. He also informed dispatchers that a toddler was inside the home.
When officers arrived, they attempted to communicate with the caller. Moments later, they heard a gunshot, prompting them to force their way into the residence.
Woman Found Dead, Man Dies After Self-Inflicted Gunshot
Inside the home, officers located the toddler unharmed and immediately removed the child to safety.
Police also discovered a 29-year-old woman dead in one of the bedrooms. A 32-year-old man was found in another room with what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Authorities have not publicly released the identities of either adult while family notifications continue.
The case is currently being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide. Both bodies have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies, and officials are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police officials described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy, especially because a young child survived the traumatic event. The toddler was not physically injured and is now in the care of appropriate authorities and family members.
