Shocking Food Tampering Leads to Arrest in Biloxi
A 33-year-old Texas woman has been taken into custody in Biloxi, Mississippi, after investigators allege she inserted razor blades into retail bread products sold at local Walmart stores. The unusual case of food tampering sparked alarm among shoppers and prompted a police probe after multiple customers discovered sharp metal objects inside sealed bread packages.
Police say the string of tampered products was first noticed earlier this month, with shoppers finding concealed razor blades in loaves purchased from both a Walmart Supercenter and a nearby Neighborhood Market.
Suspect Charged with Attempted Mayhem; Bond Set at $100,000
Authorities have identified the suspect as Camille Benson, who now faces attempted mayhem charges connected to the incidents. She was arrested and detained on a $100,000 bond following the discovery of the hidden blades in grocery items.
According to law enforcement reports, customers first reported finding a razor blade inside a bread loaf at the Supercenter on December 5, followed by a similar discovery at the Neighborhood Market on December 8. After a subsequent complaint on December 14, Walmart staff inspected inventory and uncovered additional loaves that appeared tampered with.
Walmart and Police Warn Shoppers, Offer Refund Guidance
The Biloxi Police Department has asked anyone who purchased bread from the affected Walmart locations to carefully examine the products and contact authorities if they find any tampering. Walmart responded by removing and thoroughly reviewing all potentially compromised items from shelves and is working closely with investigators.
In a statement, the retailer emphasized that customer health and safety remain top priorities. Shoppers who believe they may have bought affected products are encouraged to dispose of them safely and return to the store for a full refund. Currently, police do not believe any other stores outside the Biloxi area were involved.
