A 17-year-old Massachusetts teenager has been charged with killing his mother and younger brother at their family home in Acton, with prosecutors saying investigators uncovered disturbing online activity involving ChatGPT in the days surrounding the deaths. Authorities stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and have not said that the AI chatbot caused or directly facilitated the killings.
The suspect, Arjun Aravind, is accused of killing 45-year-old Sudha Venkatesan and his 14-year-old brother, Siddharth Aravind. Police were called to the family residence after concerns arose when relatives and a tutor were unable to make contact with people inside the home.
Police Discover Two Victims at Acton Home
Authorities responding to the Massachusetts residence found both victims inside the house. Investigators said the victims had suffered severe traumatic injuries, while the exact circumstances and cause of death remained under examination by the medical examiner.
According to prosecutors, Aravind subsequently left the area in his mother’s vehicle. Police later located the car in nearby Wayland and took the teenager into custody without incident. He is facing two murder charges along with additional allegations involving assault and the unauthorized use or theft of the vehicle.
A judge ordered Aravind held without bail as the criminal case proceeds. Authorities have not publicly established a definitive motive for the killings.

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said investigators found concerning internet activity involving the teenager.
