Timothy Busfield Challenges Grand Jury Charges in New Mexico
Actor Timothy Busfield has filed a legal motion seeking to throw out the grand jury indictment tied to his ongoing criminal case in New Mexico. The veteran actor, who has denied all accusations, argues that prosecutors committed serious errors during the grand jury proceedings.
Busfield faces four felony counts of criminal sexual contact involving minors under the age of 13. He entered not guilty pleas earlier this year and is currently scheduled to stand trial in May 2027.
Defense Claims Prosecutorial Misconduct
According to Busfield’s legal team, prosecutors failed to present evidence that could have supported his defense and allegedly provided inaccurate information to grand jurors. His attorneys argue that these actions violated his constitutional rights and prevented the grand jury from considering all relevant facts.
The defense maintains that the indictment should be dismissed because the proceedings were unfair. Busfield’s attorney has repeatedly stated that the actor intends to challenge the allegations in court and prove his innocence.
Case Stems From Allegations Dating Back to 2022 and 2023
The charges are connected to allegations involving two boys and incidents that prosecutors say occurred in 2022 and 2023. Busfield was arrested in January 2026 before being released under court-ordered conditions, including restrictions on contact with the alleged victims and unsupervised interactions with minors.
Earlier this year, a grand jury returned four charges against the actor. The upcoming trial is expected to last several weeks, although the schedule could still change.

Despite seeking dismissal of the indictment, Busfield remains under the current charges unless the court grants his motion. If the request is denied, the case is expected to proceed toward trial in 2027.
