Investigators Examine Deadly Downtown Minneapolis Shooting
Authorities are continuing their investigation into a deadly shooting at an apartment building in downtown Minneapolis that left three people dead, including the suspected shooter.
Several others were injured during the incident, including Minneapolis police officers who responded to reports of gunfire. Investigators and law enforcement personnel remained at the scene on Thursday as the investigation continued.
Police Officers Among Those Injured
The shooting occurred Wednesday evening after authorities received emergency calls reporting gunfire at the apartment building. Police officers entered the building within minutes and began searching for victims.
According to officials, two police officers were injured by gunfire, while another officer suffered a separate injury. All three officers received medical treatment and were expected to recover. One officer was shot in the leg, while another sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
Investigation Focuses on Events Inside Apartment Building
As officers moved through the building, they reportedly heard additional gunfire and followed the sound toward an upper floor. Police encountered limited visibility caused by a haze inside the building, though authorities did not immediately provide further details about its cause.
One victim died at the scene, while another later died after being taken to a hospital. Authorities said the suspected shooter was also dead, although further details surrounding the person’s death and the possible motive remained under investigation.
Residents displaced by the incident received temporary assistance as investigators continued examining the scene. Authorities are expected to release additional information as the Minneapolis shooting investigation develops.
