Germany Files Charges in Alleged Plot Against Jewish Leaders

German federal prosecutors have formally charged two men accused of participating in an alleged Iran-linked conspiracy to target prominent Jewish figures and institutions in Germany.

According to investigators, one of the suspects, a Danish national identified as Ali S., is accused of gathering intelligence on potential targets and seeking assistance to carry out violent attacks. Prosecutors allege he maintained contact with members of Iran’s Quds Force, an overseas operations branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A second suspect, identified as Tawab M., an Afghan national, has also been charged in connection with the case. Authorities claim he was involved in efforts related to the planned attacks.

Authorities Allege Surveillance and Attack Preparations

Investigators say the main suspect conducted surveillance on several Jewish individuals and locations, including community representatives and businesses in Berlin. Prosecutors allege the information was collected to support future attacks.

Court documents reportedly state that efforts were made to recruit accomplices, obtain weapons, and organize logistical support for a potential assassination operation. German authorities believe the activities formed part of a broader plan directed from abroad.

The charges include allegations related to espionage, attempted murder, and other serious criminal offenses.

Security Concerns Rise Over Foreign Influence Operations

The case has renewed concerns in Germany about foreign-backed operations targeting Jewish communities and political figures across Europe.

Following earlier developments in the investigation, German officials raised diplomatic concerns with Iran. Iranian representatives have denied involvement in the alleged plot.

The indictment has now been submitted to a Hamburg court, which will determine whether the case proceeds to trial. If convicted, the accused could face significant prison sentences under German law.

Investigation Continues

German security agencies continue to examine potential connections between the suspects and international networks. Authorities have emphasized that protecting Jewish institutions remains a high priority amid ongoing security threats across Europe.

Officials have not ruled out additional investigative steps as prosecutors review evidence gathered during the lengthy inquiry.
