Child’s Emergency Call Leads Police to Tragic Scene
Authorities in Johns Creek, Georgia, are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a child called 911 late Sunday night to report a violent incident at his family’s home.
Officers responding to the residence on North Hillbrooke Trace found two adults dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators identified them as Richard Holladay, 52, and Martha Holladay, 43.
Preliminary findings indicate that Martha Holladay died from a gunshot wound to the head, while Richard Holladay suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives believe the husband fatally shot his wife before taking his own life.
Three Children Were Inside the House
Police said three boys, ages 17, 13, and 12, were inside the home when the shooting occurred. The children were outside the residence when officers arrived and were found unharmed.
According to authorities, one of the children contacted emergency dispatchers shortly before midnight and reported that an argument between his parents had turned violent.
Family members have been notified, and officials confirmed that the children are safe.
Police Say Incident Appears Isolated
Investigators stated that the case remains active, but early evidence suggests the tragedy was a domestic incident with no ongoing threat to the community.
Authorities also noted that there had been no previous police responses to the home before the shooting.
Officials continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews as they work to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.
