Arizona Teen Charged After Pregnant 16-Year-Old Girl and Unborn Baby Killed in Shooting

Tragic Arizona Shooting Leaves Teen Mother and Unborn Child Dead

A heartbreaking shooting in Buckeye, Arizona, has led to multiple felony charges against an 18-year-old man accused of killing his pregnant teenage ex-girlfriend and seriously injuring two other women.

Police said the incident happened on the night of May 14 outside a home on Elwood Street. Officers arrived to find three female victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities identified the victim as 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery, who was pregnant at the time of the attack. She and her unborn baby were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims — a 17-year-old pregnant girl and a 22-year-old woman — were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators later arrested Michael Sanchez, 18, in nearby Avondale with help from law enforcement agencies.

Police Say Relationship Turned Violent After Pregnancy News

According to investigators and family members, the relationship between Sanchez and Montgomery became increasingly toxic after he learned about the pregnancy earlier this year.

Family members claimed the suspect allegedly pressured the teen to end the pregnancy and later began making threats after the couple separated in March. Reports indicate police had previously been contacted regarding threatening behavior and alleged abuse.

Authorities also stated that Sanchez allegedly tracked down Montgomery before the shooting occurred.

Court records show the suspect now faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder related to the deaths of Montgomery and her unborn child.

Second Pregnant Victim Forced to Deliver Baby Early

One of the surviving victims, identified by relatives as Abby, was reportedly 25 weeks pregnant and underwent an emergency premature delivery after the shooting.

The second injured victim, identified as Mya, also remains hospitalized as the investigation continues.

Police have not released additional details about a possible motive, but officials confirmed the case remains active.

The tragedy has sparked renewed conversations online about domestic violence, teen relationships, and warning signs of escalating threats.
