Ohio Officer Dies in Deadly Shooting During Emergency Response
A police officer lost their life after responding to a 911 call reporting gunfire at a residence in Rittman, Ohio, on Sunday night. The violent incident ended with four people dead, including the responding officer, the suspected gunman, and two other individuals.
Authorities said officers arrived at the location shortly after the emergency call and immediately came under gunfire. The tragic encounter has prompted a major investigation as law enforcement works to determine exactly what happened.
Officers Came Under Fire Upon Arrival
According to officials, emergency dispatch received a call around 9:30 p.m. reporting shots fired at a home in the community, located roughly 40 miles south of Cleveland.
When officers reached the scene, they were met with gunfire almost immediately. One officer was fatally wounded during the exchange. Officials have not yet released the identity of the fallen officer or confirmed the law enforcement agency involved.
The suspected shooter was also killed during the incident. Two additional people were found dead at the scene, although investigators have not disclosed their identities or how they were involved.
Additional Officers and Police K-9 Injured
The shooting also left two other police officers injured. A police K-9 sustained injuries while assisting at the scene.
