Paul Pelosi Under Investigation Following California Vehicle Incident

Paul Pelosi, husband of former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, may face a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge after a traffic incident in California’s Napa County. Officials say the collision involved a parked vehicle and caused significant property damage, although no injuries were reported.

The incident took place Friday afternoon in Yountville, a town located in Napa County’s wine region. Authorities are reviewing the case before deciding whether formal charges will be filed.

Authorities Say Parked Vehicle Was Heavily Damaged

According to investigators, Pelosi was driving a brown convertible when it collided with a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle. Witnesses reported that the car briefly stopped after the impact before continuing down the road.

A bystander contacted emergency services, allowing deputies to quickly locate Pelosi’s damaged vehicle a short distance from the crash site. Officers confirmed damage to the front of Pelosi’s car that matched the collision with the parked vehicle. No one was inside the struck vehicle at the time, and there were no reported injuries.

Case Sent for Review; Alcohol Not Considered a Factor

During questioning, Pelosi reportedly told deputies that he realized he had struck something but was unsure exactly what had been hit. Authorities said preliminary screening found no indication that alcohol played any role in the incident.

Because the alleged offense is a misdemeanor, Pelosi was not arrested at the scene. Investigators have forwarded the case to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review, where prosecutors will determine whether charges should be filed.

Officials also indicated that, due to Pelosi’s age, a report will be submitted to the California Department of Motor Vehicles for a driving capability evaluation.

Previous Driving Incident Draws Attention

The latest investigation has renewed public attention because Pelosi previously pleaded guilty to a DUI-related offense in Napa County in 2022 following a separate traffic collision. While unrelated to the current case, that earlier incident has become part of the broader public discussion surrounding the new investigation.
